Michael Walsh
Michael is the lead tutor for Let’s Think in English and a Trustee of the Let’s Think Forum. Michael created and co-developed the Let’s Think in English programme with Laurie Smith. He was a secondary English teacher before being seconded to lead teaching and learning for an Education Action Zone. Previously a senior consultant for a LA, he now also leads a voluntary collaborative of 23 schools in Islington called: Futurezone.
Laurie Smith
Laurie was Head of English and Deputy Head in South London schools before joining the London East Anglian GCSE Board (Pearson’s predecessor) to work on an alternative assessment system. He then joined King’s College London to work on its PGCE programme and was also a Chief Marker and Senior Marker for the Key Stage 3 English SATs until their discontinuation in 2008. In that year he began working with Michael Walsh on developing the Let’s Think in English programme, supervised by one of the originators of Cognitive Acceleration, Philip Adey. Together they have led the programme’s expansion from a few London schools to a nationwide and international presence.
Leah Crawford
Leah has worked with the Let’s Think in English team since 2013. As an LA Inspector/adviser, she worked on Secondary and Primary pilot courses in Hampshire with Laurie and Michael and has since built a thriving LTE network across the county. She is now a trained LTE tutor; running courses, developing lesson materials and contributing to the development of the programme. She is a teacher, author and independent consultant. Leah is a member of the Let’s Think Forum.
